Opened in August 2023 to coincide with the Basketball World Cup at the nearby Okinawa Arena, the hotel draws inspiration from the Okinawan concept of "Champuru"-meaning "mixed"-to celebrate the region's unique blend of traditional, Japanese, Southeast Asian, and American influences. Through collaborations with local artists and the hometown basketball team, the hotel integrates community spirit and multicultural charm into every aspect of its design and operation.

Unlike the typical seaside resorts for which Okinawa is known, Ref Okinawa Arena highlights the vibrant life of the city's inland area, renowned for its sports venues and nostalgic American nightlife. The hotel's eight-story, reinforced concrete structure houses 150 guest rooms, multiple restaurants, meeting spaces, a sauna, a pool, and a rooftop bar. Its exterior features a modern take on the traditional Okinawan "hana-block," with frames in tropical green and brick red, reflecting the island's natural and architectural heritage. Inside, playful color schemes and themed guest rooms inspired by the local basketball team offer guests a uniquely immersive experience.

Designed to foster genuine connections, the hotel's first two floors serve as multifunctional spaces that open onto a terrace garden and connect directly to a public park, creating a welcoming lounge for both locals and visitors. The top floor's pool and music bar, inspired by the nearby "Music Town," encourage community engagement from day to night.
