The Mirae-N Design Team has been honored with the Golden A' Design Award 2025 for "Shining Moments," a groundbreaking middle school textbook series from Korea that features comic book-inspired covers and warm, daily-life illustrations to spark student curiosity and foster emotional connection, departing from traditional textbook design.

The "Shining Moments" textbook series, created by the Mirae-N Design Team, has received the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Education, Teaching Aid, and Training Content Design category for 2025. Developed from January to July 2024 and set for use in Korean middle schools from 2025, this innovative collection of twelve textbooks transforms the traditional learning experience by integrating comic book-style covers and heartfelt illustrations that depict the everyday lives and friendships of students.
Unlike conventional textbooks that rely on subject-related symbols or rigid graphics, "Shining Moments" employs analog illustrations with soft colors and incomplete details to evoke warmth and familiarity. The covers feature scenes reminiscent of comic books, designed to reduce academic pressure and instead arouse curiosity and emotional engagement. Special printing techniques, including holographic and colored foils as well as silk epoxy, enhance the visual appeal and tactile experience, while vivid Pantone colors on the spine ensure each book stands out.
The design process was not without its challenges, as the team needed to persuade stakeholders to move away from standardized textbook aesthetics. However, the result is a series that bridges generational gaps, offering nostalgia for teachers and new experiences for students. By focusing on the value of ordinary experiences and warm friendships, "Shining Moments" aims to motivate students, foster emotional security, and create a positive association with learning materials. The project's recognition with the Golden A' Design Award underscores its impact on advancing educational design and student well-being.
