Chez Vous, the renowned Belgian restaurant in Sao Paulo, has unveiled a new visual identity that pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of Belgium. Designed by Ruis Vargas, the creative director and illustrator, the project commenced in June 2019 and concluded in January 2020 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The new visual identity draws inspiration from Belgian icons such as Magritte, Manneken Pis, rain, and traditional French fries, offering a fresh reinterpretation that is exclusive to Chez Vous. This unique approach permeates the restaurant with graphic manifestations, including posters, t-shirts, and panels, creating a visually unified and authentically Belgian narrative.
Utilizing offset and digital printing techniques, the graphic materials feature vibrant colors and classic frames, enhancing the visual appeal and cultural essence of the brand. The project's underlying research, based on the Laika method, focused on constructing meaningful graphic narratives that represent the culture of Chez Vous.
The visual identity project not only affirms the Belgian cultural essence of Chez Vous but also provides a welcoming and informal atmosphere for patrons, allowing them to immerse themselves in the unique narratives and experience the authentic Belgian gastronomy in Sao Paulo.
Ruis Vargas, known for his extensive expertise in semiotics, history, art, and culture, has successfully translated the essence of Belgian culture into a compelling visual identity, offering Chez Vous' customers an immersive and genuine experience of Belgian cuisine and culture.
