"Eternal Moon" 2023 Mid-Autumn Art Gift Box Celebrates Human Connection and Nature Through Innovative Packaging Design

Suzhou SoFeng Design Co.,Ltd. has received the prestigious Bronze A' Packaging Design Award for its "Eternal Moon" mooncake gift box, an innovative packaging project completed between June 2023 and August 2024 in Suzhou, China. Moving beyond conventional Mid-Autumn motifs, the design draws inspiration from the harmonious energy exchange between the moon and eight earthly elements-fire, flowers, stones, clouds, sea, wind, mountains, and forest-symbolizing a renewed sense of unity and shared destiny in the post-pandemic era.

The "Eternal Moon" packaging stands out for its artistic reinterpretation of ancient themes, consciously departing from familiar legends like Chang'e or the moon rabbit. Instead, it invites recipients to share mooncakes and a theme painting, fostering connection and friendship. The design's visual narrative is realized through advanced spot color printing and hot stamping techniques, resulting in a tactile and visually striking presentation. The gift box measures 335mm x 75mm x 195mm, with individual mooncake boxes sized at 70mm x 70mm x 35mm, reflecting meticulous attention to both aesthetics and functionality.

Led by Creative Director Sha Feng and Art Director Jiayi Lu, the SoFeng team overcame significant creative challenges, skillfully integrating natural elements with lunar symbolism to create a harmonious and evocative design. The project's success is a testament to the studio's commitment to innovative craftsmanship and contemporary aesthetics, resonating with consumers seeking meaningful, artful experiences. The Bronze A' Design Award recognizes "Eternal Moon" as a model of ingenuity and technical excellence, contributing to the evolution of packaging design and the celebration of cultural heritage.
