Liang Wei's Rizhao Zhonggu Logistics building, completed in October 2024 in Rizhao, China, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award for its innovative cargo ship-inspired architecture, blending coastal geography with the spirit of maritime logistics to create a striking new landmark in the region.

Rizhao Zhonggu Logistics, designed by Liang Wei and his team, stands as the central complex within a prominent coastal logistics park in Rizhao, China. Drawing inspiration from the city's maritime heritage and the bustling activity of container shipping, the building's form echoes a fully loaded cargo ship ready for departure. The tower's squared silhouette mimics stacked shipping containers, while the podiums on either side feature inclined designs reminiscent of a freighter's bow, seamlessly integrating the structure with its coastal surroundings and the logistics industry it serves.
Completed in October 2024 after beginning construction in March 2023, the 10,000-square-meter building employs advanced materials and technology to withstand the challenging coastal environment. Its facade is clad in corrosion-resistant aluminum panels, ensuring durability against the Yellow Sea's high salt fog. The third and ninth floors are encased in glass curtain walls, creating a sense of lightness and giving the impression that the tower floats above the landscape. LED lighting embedded in the exterior panels enhances the building's visibility at night, making it a beacon along the shoreline and reinforcing its status as a regional landmark.
The building's ninth floor serves as the operational core, offering panoramic views and functioning as a business negotiation hub that mirrors the commanding bridge of a ship. The entrance features a sail-inspired curved design, symbolizing smooth sailing and optimism for the future. Despite its modest height of 50 meters and its location one kilometer from the shoreline, thoughtful architectural interventions ensure the building's prominence both day and night. The project's success in harmonizing form, function, and local identity has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2025, celebrating its technical innovation and artistic excellence.
