Liang Wei's Zhonggu Logistics project, completed in October 2024 in Rizhao, China, transforms a 10,000-square-meter logistics hub into a striking industrial workspace inspired by shipping containers, blending geometric lines, corrugated textures, and modern technology to create a functional and visually cohesive environment that celebrates the region's shipping heritage.

Zhonggu Logistics, designed by Liang Wei and completed in late 2024, stands as a new focal point within Rizhao's coastal logistics park. Drawing inspiration from the ubiquitous shipping container, the nine-story, 10,000-square-meter building integrates geometric lines and corrugated metal textures throughout its architecture and interiors. This design not only establishes a unique visual identity but also pays homage to the industrial context of the surrounding shipping yard, ensuring that every detail-from the company logo display to the lobby and control room-reflects the core business of containerized logistics.
The building's spatial organization supports a diverse range of functions, including business offices, corporate culture exhibitions, a restaurant, staff accommodations, and a state-of-the-art dispatch center on the ninth floor. Visitors are guided through the space by luminous pathways created with reflective light strips, culminating at the control room, which offers panoramic views of the container yard and the sea. The negotiation area on the top floor features black mirrored marble flooring, giving the impression of floating above water and enhancing the atmosphere for business discussions.
Overcoming creative and technical challenges, the design team incorporated container motifs and maritime elements throughout the facility. The corporate culture area features a corrugated ceiling and a floor patterned after a cargo ship, symbolizing the enterprise's journey through the waves of commerce. Every aspect, from facade construction to interior detailing, is meticulously crafted to align with the logistics industry, resulting in a workspace that is both functional and emblematic of Zhonggu's identity. The project's innovative approach earned it the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025, recognizing its contribution to industrial design and workplace experience.
