Liberte: A New Concept in Restaurant Design

Variety Enterprise Co., Ltd proudly presents Liberte, a groundbreaking restaurant design that reimagines the concept of freedom in dining spaces. Inspired by the idea of freedom from limitations, the design team has created a space that embodies subtle and continuous changes, much like the music of Philip Glass. The restaurant challenges traditional norms with its unique approach to spatial design and ambiance.

Without conventional elements at the entrance, the white wall immediately captures attention, while a waterscape hints at a transformative space within. The fluid arc wall, extending from ceiling to floor, defines the interior, offering a truly immersive experience for diners.

The project, completed in December 2020, covers an area of 200 square meters in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The design team, including Sin-Feng Lin, Chia-Yen Wei, and Wei-Lin Wu, meticulously considered the technical specifications, ensuring that every aspect of the design reflects the vision of freedom and elegance.

The design team, in collaboration with the head chef and brand consultant, envisioned the restaurant's seating to resemble a theater, carefully considering the connection of colors and service ambiance. The color scheme, derived from the aesthetic tone of Takeda plate decoration, features several gray-beige and white tones with texture, creating a harmonious and visually appealing environment.

The restaurant's interaction and functionality were key considerations during the design process. The desks, resembling a painting with the texture of a tablecloth, are adorned with shades of white, while the seating arrangement and lighting transmission were meticulously planned to ensure both elegance and practicality. The design effectively balances coherence and efficiency, offering a modern interpretation of freedom.

Liberte's design overcame various creative, technical, and research challenges, achieving a dignified and balanced space that exudes simplicity and natural beauty, much like calligraphy. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that redefines the dining experience.
