Future Tribes Unveiled at Centrestage Fashion Event

The Future Tribes concept, unveiled by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) at the Centrestage fashion event, aimed to create a visually stunning experience by blending new and traditional cultural elements with cutting-edge technology. The 9000m2 event space housed 240 contemporary fashion brands, and the Future Tribes concept was strategically integrated into the entrance concourse, central display, and catwalk area to elevate the show's ambience and reflect its core mission of discovering new fashion talent in Asia.

The tight 3-day setup schedule posed a challenge, prompting the team to prefabricate the design off-site and reassemble it on-site. The design featured reusable aluminum structural frames covered with stretched vinyl graphics, mesh, polycarbonate sheets, and mirror finish, along with audio and visual equipment, LED screens, mechanical moving technology, and 3D holograph LEDs. The entrance concourse boasted freestanding holographic fan displays, LED screens, and colorful super graphics vinyl walls and carpets, while the central display and catwalk area featured suspended moving triangle-shaped LEDs and a 3D LED display unit, respectively.

The Future Tribes concept was brought to life through extensive research into various cultural origins, symbolisms, runes, belief systems, and aesthetic details, which were then intermixed with technology to create a radical and fearless future in fashion for a new generation. The project, launched on the 4th of September 2019, received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
