Ningbo Urban Construction Archives by DC Alliance

DC Alliance proudly presents the Ningbo Urban Construction Archives, a historical fortification collector located in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, China. The design concept is inspired by the history of city construction, interpreting it as a history of fortification. The archives aim to capture the essence of Ningbo's development through the innovative concept of "Building Blocks," which integrates the properties of space and material.

The design features a total site area of 6567 sqm, contributing 17190 sqm floor area on the ground and 6405 m2 floor area underground, with 11 floors and 2 floors respectively. The "Blocks" are divided into three categories: "transparent," real, and special blocks, each offering a unique perspective on the city's history.

DC Alliance's team, including Dongyi and Heweiwei, overcame creative and technical challenges to represent the concept of fortification, making the Ningbo Urban Construction Archives a significant cultural carrier of the city's history. The project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to the improvement of quality of life.
