Sea Stellar: Award-Winning Residential Interior Design Harmonizes Modern Living with Coastal Inspiration

Handover Studio Ltd. has achieved international recognition with its "Sea Stellar" project, recently awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025. Located in Hong Kong and completed in July 2023, "Sea Stellar" is a thoughtfully designed 166-square-meter residence that seamlessly integrates modern aesthetics with practical solutions for coastal living. The project was conceived to provide a tranquil, inviting environment for a multi-generational family, including young children and elderly members, while celebrating the beauty and challenges of its seaside location.

Drawing inspiration from the serene yet powerful presence of the sea, the design incorporates curved ceiling light troughs, wooden panels, and organic furnishings to evoke a sense of warmth and dimensionality. Lightweight, flexible furniture allows for easy adaptation to family needs, while a state-of-the-art projector enhances entertainment possibilities. The open-plan layout fosters connection and interaction among residents, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both daily life and gatherings. Soft beige hues and natural materials further unify the space, reflecting the calming influence of the ocean.

Addressing the technical demands of coastal environments, Handover Studio implemented advanced damp proofing, optimized air conditioning layouts, and sun protection treatments to mitigate humidity and heat gain. These measures, combined with strategic lighting and material choices, ensure comfort and durability without sacrificing style. The project's success is underscored by its recognition at the A' Design Award, which honors designs that exemplify industry best practices and contribute positively to the built environment.
