Lucent Porcelain Slab: Fusing Light, Nature, and Technology in Contemporary Interior Design

Lucent, designed by PMA IMPERIO DESIGN DEPARTMENT, stands as the signature piece of the Lumin Collection, capturing the interplay of light and nature through innovative porcelain craftsmanship. Presented at the Building and Construction Industry Exhibition in Tehran in August 2024, Lucent has now received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award 2025 in the Building Materials and Construction Components category, recognizing its creative ingenuity and technical excellence.

The Lucent slab is distinguished by its Evodry effect-a unique surface treatment achieved by applying transparent dry powder in vertical lines, creating a tactile and visual resonance with glass. Each porcelain face, measuring 120 x 280 cm and only 6 mm thick, is designed for versatility and ease of installation, while its subtle transparency and delicate green hues evoke a serene connection to nature. The design process involved meticulous photography, custom lighting compositions, and digital printing, ensuring that no stock images were used and every detail was purposefully crafted to reflect the dance of light across surfaces.

Lucent's technical innovation lies in its combination of strength, flexibility, and minimal thickness, allowing for both flat and slightly curved installations in a variety of spaces, including bathrooms, lobbies, living rooms, and restaurants. The research behind Lucent highlighted the importance of light in modern interiors, and the product's glass-like qualities were developed in response to feedback from architects and clients seeking tranquility and openness in their environments. The award-winning design not only elevates aesthetic standards but also enhances the quality of life by fostering a sense of warmth and reflection in contemporary spaces.
