Christian Symbolism and Sustainable Design Shine in "Holy Sky" Residential Project

ZENG JYUN SHEN's "Holy Sky" project reimagines residential living through the lens of faith, light, and sustainability. Completed in September 2024 in Taichung City, Taiwan, the home was conceived for a devout Christian family, drawing inspiration from the imagery of descending heavenly light and the cross. The design uses simple materials, harmonious color palettes, and layered lighting to evoke a sacred, tranquil atmosphere, seamlessly integrating spiritual symbolism into everyday living spaces.

Unique features of "Holy Sky" include floor boundary lines that define the TV wall and living area, extending to form a cross-like motif. The ceiling's gradient lighting mimics rays of light pouring from above, while a circular corridor connects three doors, creating a gentle, flexible flow throughout the home. The open-plan layout maximizes spatial efficiency and encourages interaction among family members, ensuring comfort and connectivity for users of all ages.

Environmental responsibility is at the core of the project, with green, durable materials chosen for finishes and cabinetry designed for adaptability and reuse. This approach minimizes waste and supports future updates, aligning with the designer's commitment to sustainability. Every surface-from special paint on the TV wall to coordinated flooring and cabinetry-was selected to create visual harmony and enhance user satisfaction. The project's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award underscores its creative ingenuity, technical excellence, and positive impact on quality of life.
