Masato Kure's "King Mo" jewelry boutique, located in Nanjing, China, has been awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative interior, which transforms the shopping experience with a ceiling inspired by the accumulation of gems and a unique interplay of light and geometry.

Masato Kure's latest project, "King Mo," a composite jewelry boutique on the third floor of the KING MO shopping mall in Nanjing, China, has been honored with the Golden A' Design Award 2025 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The boutique distinguishes itself with a striking ceiling installation composed of white steel rods arranged along mathematical curves, creating a three-dimensional pattern that echoes the brilliance and complexity of gemstones. This innovative design concept, inspired by the accumulation and interplay of gems in jewelry, offers visitors an immersive environment where each accessory is elevated to the status of art.
The boutique spans 1,200 square meters, with 500 square meters dedicated to common areas, and brings together a variety of jewelry brands under one roof. The ceiling's geometric forms shift with the viewer's perspective, simulating the dynamic reflections of light seen in precious stones. Each rod, precisely engineered to accommodate lighting and sprinkler systems, was individually numbered and installed according to a meticulously planned pattern, overcoming significant technical challenges to achieve both aesthetic harmony and functional excellence.
Beyond its visual impact, the spatial design fosters a gallery-like atmosphere that encourages visitors to appreciate the individuality of each jewelry piece while enjoying a cohesive, emotionally engaging shopping experience. By seamlessly integrating brand identities within a unified environment, "King Mo" sets a new standard for retail spaces, transforming the act of shopping into a memorable occasion. The project, completed in February 2024, exemplifies how thoughtful design can create a distinctive market position and foster lasting customer loyalty in the competitive world of luxury retail.
