Ching Tze Tu's "Ebb and Flow," a residential interior project inspired by the convergence of ocean and city in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative blend of maritime tranquility and contemporary sophistication, completed in December 2023 near Kaohsiung Harbor.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"Ebb and Flow": Award-Winning Residential Interior Design Inspired by Kaohsiung's Coastal Landscape and Urban Energy

Ching Tze Tu's "Ebb and Flow" redefines luxury living by seamlessly integrating the serene rhythms of the ocean with the dynamic pulse of urban Kaohsiung. Located near the city's harbor, this 611-square-meter residence draws inspiration from the natural convergence of sea and city, translating maritime tranquility into a refined, immersive interior experience. The project, completed in December 2023, was recently recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025.

The design's unique character emerges from its fluid spatial composition, which mirrors the organic movement of waves through sculptural forms, layered materials, and reflective metallic accents. The living room and master bedroom feature wall are crafted from CNC-milled solid timber, finished with a meticulous multi-layered skim coating and micro-polishing process to achieve a flawless matte alabaster surface. Custom architectural paneling in the dining area incorporates indirect LED cove lighting, engineered for seamless illumination and sculptural interplay between light and form.

Throughout the residence, carefully selected materials-deep-toned leather, natural stone, and titanium-plated details-create a harmonious interplay of depth, contrast, and motion. The open-plan layout enhances spatial fluidity and maximizes natural light, while advanced lighting calculations ensure smooth transitions between zones. The project's realization involved extensive research, 3D modeling, and collaboration with artisans to develop bespoke elements, such as hand-applied fabric panels and titanium finishes, elevating both emotional comfort and spatial depth. Overcoming significant technical challenges, the team achieved a seamless integration of curved forms and wave-inspired panels, resulting in a living environment that is both organic and sophisticated-a true reflection of Kaohsiung's unique coastal identity.
