Luxebay Art Gallery: A Harmonious Fusion of Myth, Nature, and Humanism in Urban Space Design

YHDQ Design has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for its Luxebay Art Gallery project. Situated in Wanning, Hainan, and completed in October 2023, the 1300m² gallery reimagines the sales center as a vibrant intersection of art, nature, and human experience. The design draws inspiration from mythological motifs and the duality of flowers, creating a surreal dialogue between humanity and nature through a series of bespoke sculptures.

The gallery's spatial concept is rooted in three core principles: the evocation of cultural motifs from myth and nature, the visual interplay between minimalism and complexity, and an ordered system of repetition and progression. Sculptures inspired by Homeric epics-featuring magical plants such as olive trees, laurels, and sunflowers-are handcrafted and strategically placed to guide visitors through a narrative journey. The open, light-filled environment is complemented by classic, low-profile furniture, ensuring the sculptures remain the focal point and allowing visitors to experience a sense of freedom and flow.

By reducing extraneous decoration and focusing on the interplay between architecture and art, Luxebay Art Gallery offers a space where the boundaries between the ordinary and the extraordinary blur. The project's innovative approach not only enhances the aesthetic and cultural value of urban public space but also invites visitors to reflect on the meaning of a good life, echoing the philosophical roots of gardens as places for contemplation and intellectual growth. This recognition at the A' Design Awards highlights YHDQ Design's commitment to elevating urban environments through thoughtful, art-driven design.
