Solid Order: A Contemporary Jewelry Packaging Redefining Form, Function, and User Experience

Solid Order, the latest creation from designer Yawen Jiang and the team at A Design Studio, has been recognized with the Golden A' Packaging Design Award 2025, celebrating its exceptional blend of minimalist aesthetics and innovative functionality. Inspired by the brand's signature geometric motifs-squares and circles-and influenced by the evocative photography of Hiroshi Sugimoto, Solid Order transforms jewelry packaging into a piece of installation art. The design's neutral, architectural language elevates the unboxing ritual, making the packaging an integral part of the jewelry experience.

The packaging features a textured specialty paper exterior that sets a refined tone, while the main body is crafted from semi-transparent frosted acrylic, offering a smooth, uninterrupted surface. The modular velvet insert is easily swapped to accommodate rings, necklaces, or earrings, ensuring versatility across the product line. Embedded magnets in the top and bottom halves provide a secure, satisfying closure, enhancing the tactile pleasure and ceremony of each interaction. Once the jewelry is removed, the hollow interior transforms into a functional storage box, extending the life and utility of the packaging beyond its initial use.

Developed over several months in Beijing, the design process involved close collaboration with clients and suppliers to perfect every detail-from the seamless removal of the acrylic box from its paper shell to the stability and display of the jewelry inside. Multiple prototypes and refinements were made to ensure both aesthetic appeal and practical usability. Solid Order stands out not only for its sculptural presence but also for its commitment to sustainability and user engagement, offering a keepsake that customers will cherish long after the jewelry has been unveiled.
