Shenzhen Setinya Packaging Co., Ltd. has achieved international recognition with its "Cacao Odyssey" chocolate packaging, earning the Iron A' Packaging Design Award in 2025. Developed from June to November 2024, this packaging series stands out for its narrative-driven approach, visually chronicling the journey of cacao through four distinct themes: Origin, Spread, Globalization, and Sustainability. Each theme draws from diverse cultural backgrounds and flavor profiles, from Aztec-inspired Classic Dark Chocolate to European-influenced Sea Salt Dark Chocolate, vibrant Berry Dark Chocolate, and eco-conscious Mint Dark Chocolate.
The design's uniqueness lies in its ability to merge storytelling with practicality. The vertical box structure allows chocolate bars to stand upright, offering both an elegant display and easy accessibility. Compact and refined, each box is crafted to serve as a decorative piece or a thoughtful gift, enhancing consumer interaction and engagement. The packaging's visual motifs-ranging from Aztec hieroglyphs and botanical illustrations to European mosaics-invite consumers on a sensory and cultural journey, deepening their appreciation for the evolution of cacao culture.
Sustainability is at the core of the Cacao Odyssey project. The packaging is produced using eco-friendly recycled paper, including ultra white paper and recycled paperboard, with non-toxic inks and coatings to ensure safety and environmental responsibility. This circular approach to material use minimizes environmental impact while maintaining high standards of quality and aesthetics. The project overcame the challenge of integrating rich cultural references without sacrificing functionality or visual appeal, resulting in packaging that not only protects and presents the product but also communicates brand values and environmental commitment.
