Port House, designed by Saffet Dikmen of Boda Design and Architecture, stands as a testament to modern residential design that celebrates both form and function. Located on the picturesque shores of Alachati, a world-renowned surf destination in Izmir, Turkey, this two-storey home was conceived for a family of five seeking a tranquil yet vibrant living environment. The project, initiated in February 2023 and completed in September 2023, centers on creating spaces that are at peace with nature, offering panoramic Aegean Sea views, abundant daylight, and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living.

The unique character of Port House is defined by its bold use of color and texture, open-plan layout, and high ceilings that invite natural light to flood the interiors. Large windows and sliding doors dissolve the boundaries between the inside and the lush five-acre garden, which features a private jetty and shoreline. Oak is the primary material throughout the home, used for floors, ceiling beams, cabinetry, and doors, complemented by marble accents and iconic design furniture. This careful material selection, realized in collaboration with local craftsmen, ensures the home's contemporary style is grounded in natural warmth and regional heritage.

Designed for year-round comfort, Port House features four en-suite bedrooms, a double-height living area, a dining room, kitchen, and a dedicated maid's area with laundry facilities. The thoughtful layout prioritizes both communal and private spaces, ensuring easy navigation and interaction for the family. The ground floor's gallery ceiling and expansive windows create a gallery-like ambiance, while the outdoor living areas mirror the comfort and elegance of the interiors. The design process involved detailed site analysis, climate considerations, and close collaboration with the homeowners to realize their vision of a serene, timeless retreat. The project's excellence in design and execution has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, underscoring its innovation, technical mastery, and artistic achievement.
