VivaCyte: Award-Winning Suite Software Platform Enhancing Cell Therapy Development with Automation and Usability

VivaCyte, designed by Livia Stevenin and her team, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Interface, Interaction, and User Experience Design for 2025. Developed in Milan between January 2022 and August 2024, VivaCyte addresses the pressing need for efficient, error-reducing solutions in cancer cell therapy research. The platform combines Control Software (CSW) for managing biological tests and Analytical Software (ASW) for extracting actionable insights, all within a user-centered, scalable, and automated environment.

The design process was rooted in extensive user research, including shadowing biologists, conducting interviews, and mapping user journeys to identify workflow pain points. These insights led to a custom design system and features such as printable experiment maps and guided setup walkthroughs, which minimize human error and enhance compliance with strict medical regulations. VivaCyte's AI-driven automation accelerates data analysis, reduces manual intervention, and ensures accuracy, allowing researchers and clinicians to focus on innovation rather than operational constraints.
