FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DA Architects has announced the completion of the NN Pharmaceutical office in Sofia, Bulgaria, a project that marks a significant shift in the working environment for the Bulgarian branch of the Dutch pharmaceutical leader. Spanning approximately 1,500 square meters, the new office was designed to encourage teamwork, efficiency, and employee well-being through a blend of Scandinavian minimalism and local work culture. The project, which began in January 2024 and concluded in December 2024, has already garnered international recognition, winning the Silver A' Design Award in 2025 for its outstanding expertise and innovative approach.
The design concept centers on creating inviting, fluid spaces with a strong sense of human scale. DA Architects selected a warm color palette and tactile materials such as wood, felt, and textiles to evoke a home-like atmosphere, while subtle color coding distinguishes different functional zones. The office offers a variety of spaces-ranging from focus work areas and collaborative zones to social interaction and meeting spaces-distributed along the main circulation path to support seamless transitions between work modes. Abundant natural light and carefully considered acoustics further enhance the comfort and productivity of the workspace.
To realize this vision, DA Architects employed research-driven methodologies and user-centric planning, conducting surveys, interviews, and spatial analysis to understand employee needs. The resulting layout maximizes flexibility and adaptability, allowing employees to personalize their work experience and encouraging knowledge exchange. The design also addresses the challenges of transitioning from traditional office layouts to open-plan environments by integrating familiar, cozy elements and balancing building constraints with ergonomic and acoustic standards. This holistic approach has resulted in a workspace that not only meets functional requirements but also inspires motivation, creativity, and a sense of belonging among employees.
