Brilliant Milky Way: A Minimalist, Galaxy-Inspired Home Celebrated for Design Excellence

"Brilliant Milky Way," designed by YS. Interior Studio, has received the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award 2025 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Located in Xitun District, Taichung City, this 59.5-square-meter residence reimagines modern living with a palette of black, white, and gray, evoking the understated brilliance of the cosmos. The project's completion in September 2024 marks a significant achievement in combining minimalist elegance with practical, everyday functionality.

The residence's standout feature is its living room TV wall, where star-patterned marble, black mirrors, and metal trim panels create a striking focal point reminiscent of a starry night sky. Curved metal film over wood panels softens the space's geometry, while the kitchen island doubles as both an appliance cabinet and a storage nook for strollers and shopping bags. Throughout the home, reflective surfaces and indirect lighting add warmth and depth, balancing the cool, neutral tones and enhancing the sense of spaciousness.

Functionality is at the heart of the design, with meticulously planned cabinetry and increased storage capacity-such as a deeper television cabinet for large suitcases-bringing order and convenience to daily life. The open-plan kitchen, transformed from a semi-enclosed layout, maximizes natural light and visual flow, making the compact space feel expansive. Overcoming technical challenges, the team optimized plumbing, wiring, and ceiling height, ensuring seamless transitions between diverse materials and a cohesive, refined aesthetic.

"Brilliant Milky Way" stands as a testament to YS. Interior Studio's commitment to blending art, science, and technology in interior design. The project's success at the A' Design Award highlights its contribution to quality of life improvements and its role in setting new standards for residential interiors in Taiwan and beyond.
