Smart Design Expo's "Skyline Stories" exhibition stand, showcased at BAU Munich 2025, has captured the attention of the design world by earning the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in Trade Show Architecture, Interiors, and Exhibit Design. Drawing inspiration from Manhattan's legendary skyline and the historic Flatiron Building, the stand reinterprets urban verticality through a series of 6.5-meter multimedia towers and a dramatic cantilevered balcony, creating an immersive cityscape within the fairground. The design's cascading architecture and elevated gardens blend technology and nature, offering visitors a dynamic, multi-level experience.
The stand's engineering is as innovative as its aesthetics. Custom steel columns support a 4.2-meter elevated floor, while a 10.5-meter beam enables an open-span layout for true-to-scale product displays. The design integrates dark laminated panels, black-stained wood, and metallic accents in gold and copper, echoing the sophistication of urban architecture. Multimedia towers serve as both structural and interactive elements, displaying dynamic content and guiding visitor flow across the two-level space. The cantilevered balcony, measuring 2.5 by 5 meters, introduces a suspended garden, infusing the environment with biophilic design and offering new perspectives on the exhibits below.
Skyline Stories was realized through meticulous research into urban storytelling, visitor movement, and multimedia integration. The project overcame significant engineering challenges, including non-standard floor heights and space constraints, by employing advanced structural solutions and ensuring compliance with exhibition safety regulations. The result is a stand that not only maximizes vertical space but also transforms the traditional exhibition experience, inviting visitors to explore, discover, and engage with products from multiple vantage points. This innovative approach sets a new standard for trade show architecture, demonstrating how thoughtful design can elevate both brand presence and visitor interaction.
