Huzhou, China - June 2025 - Zhejun Zhang and team have been honored with the Bronze A' Fine Arts and Art Installation Design Award for Oyoga, a multi-functional yoga chair designed to foster interaction, wellness, and adaptability in communal spaces, now set for large-scale production and campus installations.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oyoga, designed by Zhejun Zhang and a talented team, reimagines traditional seating by merging the health benefits of yoga balls with a flexible, modular structure. Inspired by the unity symbolized by pomegranate seeds, Oyoga accommodates three to six users, making it ideal for social spaces such as cafes and student lounges. Its innovative rotating joint system allows the chair to morph in shape, adapting seamlessly to different group sizes and activity needs, while promoting both comfort and fun.
Unlike conventional fixed chairs, Oyoga's structure features elastic materials and robust metal connectors, ensuring both comfort and durability. The yoga ball elements encourage light exercise and movement, supporting user wellness during breaks or collaborative activities. The seat's modularity means components can be easily replaced or reconfigured, extending the product's lifespan and sustainability. The design's playful, interactive nature not only enhances relaxation but also encourages social engagement among users.
The Oyoga project, developed in partnership with the China Academy of Art, has already secured agreements with several campus cafes to install the chairs in rest areas, aiming to create inviting environments for students seeking relaxation after intense study sessions. Extensive field research, surveys, and interviews guided the design, focusing on the need for open, interactive, and healthy communal spaces. The chair's safety and mechanical integrity were paramount throughout development, resulting in a product that is as secure as it is versatile.
Winning the Bronze A' Design Award in 2025 recognizes Oyoga's creative ingenuity and technical excellence, affirming its contribution to improving quality of life through thoughtful, resourceful design. As Oyoga enters large-scale production, it sets a new standard for interactive, wellness-focused furniture in public and educational environments.
