AI Point of View: Award-Winning Audiovisual Journey Through Seoul's Neon Nightscape, Blending Tradition and Futurism with Generative AI

Compound Collective, a leading production studio in South Korea, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Movie, Video and Animation Design Award 2025 for its innovative project, "AI Point of View." This digital animation project, completed in March 2024, offers a mesmerizing reinterpretation of Seoul's nightscape by merging traditional Korean motifs and color palettes with neon-lit, cyberpunk-inspired visuals. The result is a visually immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of contemporary digital storytelling.

"AI Point of View" stands out for its unique approach to generative AI art. The project utilizes an ultra-wide 3840 x 1392 pixel format, surpassing conventional cinematic standards to maximize impact on large digital screens. By employing advanced AI tools such as Stable Diffusion Deforum, ComfyUI, and Runway Gen2, the team achieved seamless transitions and dynamic camera movements, overcoming the typical constraints of AI-generated video. The audio, custom-composed by music producer Valo, is meticulously synchronized with the visuals, creating a cohesive and engaging audiovisual journey.

The animation's creative process involved extensive research and experimentation with AI-driven visual storytelling. Thousands of AI-generated images and motion sequences were analyzed and refined to ensure artistic consistency and cultural authenticity. The team addressed technical challenges such as unstable camera motion and visual distortions by integrating 3D motion design and frame interpolation techniques. The final work, released online and designed for both large-scale displays and digital platforms, exemplifies how AI can expand the creative potential of digital media, offering audiences a fresh perspective on Seoul's vibrant urban landscape.
