Genipabu Sideboard: A Tribute to Nature's Artistry and Modern Functionality

Estúdio Galho, in collaboration with Movew, has achieved international acclaim by winning the Platinum A' Design Award 2025 in the Furniture Design category for their Genipabu Sideboard. Drawing inspiration from the mesmerizing Genipabu Dunes of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, the sideboard captures the fluidity and rhythm of wind-sculpted sands. Its design features sinuous curves and rhythmic triangular structures that not only create a striking visual texture but also serve as an integrated wine cellar, merging beauty with practicality.

The Genipabu Sideboard stands out for its unique fusion of form and function. The sculpted door handles, echoing the gentle curves of wind-carved dunes, enhance both the tactile and visual experience. The piece's seamlessly integrated wine storage, inspired by the dynamic formations of the dunes, transforms the sideboard into a functional work of art. Crafted with sustainability in mind, the base structure is made from MDF coated with natural wood veneers, while the upper wine rack is precisely machined using CNC technology. Certified solid wood and a natural carnauba wax finish further reinforce the commitment to eco-friendly design.

Developed between late 2024 and early 2025 through a partnership between Estúdio Galho and Movew, the project involved technical visits and collaborative meetings in Natal and João Pessoa. The Genipabu Sideboard not only pays homage to Brazil's natural landscapes but also advances the boundaries of contemporary furniture design, embodying the spirit of innovation and cultural expression that the Platinum A' Design Award seeks to recognize.
