Drawing inspiration from the iconic bamboo chong-a hammock ubiquitous in rural Vietnamese homes-the daybed reinterprets this symbol of family warmth and folk tradition using contemporary materials and techniques. Crafted from natural oak wood and microfiber leather, Chong Daybed combines durability, comfort, and a close-to-nature aesthetic, all while maintaining the visual and emotional resonance of its traditional predecessor.

The design's unique structure features round oak slats, assembled with mortise and tenon joints and screws to minimize adhesives, ensuring both environmental sustainability and robust construction. The hand-woven microfiber leather surface, created by skilled artisans, enhances both elegance and resilience. The modular, disassemblable design allows for easy assembly, transport, and maintenance, with 20 independent parts that can be individually replaced-making Chong Daybed adaptable to a wide range of living environments and lifestyles.

Functionality is at the heart of Chong Daybed's appeal. Beyond serving as a comfortable place for rest and relaxation, it features a horizontal bar for hanging towels, books, or other personal items, further enhancing its versatility. The design process, spanning three years, involved extensive research into traditional Vietnamese bamboo joinery and numerous prototypes to achieve an optimal balance of stability, durability, and cultural authenticity. The result is a piece that not only enriches modern interiors but also preserves and celebrates the enduring spirit of Vietnamese rural life.
