Leva Engineering has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 for Kwsa, a 209-square-meter kinetic wall at the Aramco Innovation Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Completed in 2024, Kwsa stands as the world's largest kinetic wall, seamlessly blending advanced engineering and interactive media art to redefine architectural motion and visitor engagement.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Leva Engineering, based in Turin, Italy, has achieved international recognition with its Kwsa kinetic wall, which was awarded Silver in the 2025 A' Interactive, Experiential and Immersive Design Installations category. Installed at the Aramco Innovation Center in Riyadh, Kwsa is a monumental 209-square-meter kinetic installation composed of six modular walls, each measuring 6 meters wide by 7 meters high. This project, realized over a 12-month period, sets a new benchmark for precision, scale, and integration in architectural motion systems.
Kwsa's innovative design features 20,000 stepper motors and a custom lever-based actuation system, all powered by cross-shaped PCBs and self-lubricating technopolymer components. The wall's movements are choreographed using grayscale video inputs, allowing designers to translate visual concepts into synchronized, fluid motion. Advanced CAD simulation, CNC machining, and an automated quality assurance pipeline ensured centesimal repeatability and long-term reliability. The result is a silent, front-accessible kinetic surface that operates with 0.1 mm precision and requires no lubrication, making it both visually striking and low-maintenance.
The installation's seamless integration with other interactive systems at the Innovation Center enables immersive, media-driven experiences for visitors. Kwsa's understated yet dynamic presence contributes to the architectural identity of the space, engaging audiences through subtle, rhythmic motion and unobtrusive technology. The project overcame significant technical and logistical challenges, including stringent safety standards and the need for precise coordination with other installations. The Silver A' Design Award recognizes Kwsa's exceptional creativity, technical excellence, and its role in advancing the possibilities of interactive architecture.
