Spiral Eco3, designed by Naomi Langerak and developed with DesignNest, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award for 2025. This groundbreaking artificial Christmas tree addresses the environmental impact of traditional holiday décor by using 100 percent recycled and recyclable PET plastic, eliminating steel components, and integrating a USB-C powered lighting system. The design's flat-pack structure and ease of assembly offer a sustainable, modern alternative for eco-conscious consumers worldwide.

The inspiration for Spiral Eco3 originated with Weye Hu's observation of the waste generated by non-recyclable artificial trees. Through collaboration with material and engineering experts, the team developed a patented spiral mounting system that supports branches without the need for steel wires, making the entire tree recyclable at end-of-life. The spiral integrates Christmas lighting powered by a universal USB-C adapter-reducing electronic waste and enabling global plug compatibility. The tree can be assembled in under a minute and collapses into a compact, flat bundle, minimizing CO2 emissions during shipping and saving storage space.

Spiral Eco3's production process leverages advanced injection molding and sheet-extrusion techniques to create durable, fire-retardant PET branches and a single-piece spiral frame. The modular design allows for various tree heights, from tabletop versions to tall 2.4-meter models, catering to diverse spaces and preferences. Extensive research, prototyping, and safety testing in both the Netherlands and Shenzhen, China, ensured the product meets international standards for sustainability, safety, and affordability. By offering a fully recyclable, easy-to-store, and beautifully illuminated holiday centerpiece, Spiral Eco3 sets a new benchmark for sustainable seasonal design.
