Luar Armchair by Lattoog

Lattoog introduces the Luar armchair, a tribute to Rio de Janeiro's iconic stone sidewalks found on Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. Crafted using a unique technique developed over a decade, the armchair combines wood with recycled pet upholstery, creating a composition of contrasts that is both slender and comfortable. The design team, including Leonardo Lattavo, Pedro Moog, and Sofia Backx, collaborated with Schuster Moveis to bring this innovative piece to life.

The Luar armchair is made from curved microlaminated Brazilian wood tauari, known for its strength and sustainability. The use of recycled pet upholstery reflects a commitment to eco-friendly design. With dimensions of 940mm x 920mm x 740mm and a weight of 19.00 kg, the armchair is designed for indoor use, providing a touch of Rio's urban charm to any space.

This project, which began in January 2023, culminated in the launch of the Luar armchair at the Sao Paolo Design Week in March 2024. The design process involved extensive research into the transformation of urban elements into furniture, with a focus on the unique patterns of Rio de Janeiro's sidewalks. Overcoming the challenge of translating two-dimensional shapes into ergonomic three-dimensional forms, the designers successfully captured the essence of Rio's urban landscape in the Luar armchair.
