FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Renowned designer Li-Hsu Tsai has unveiled "Absolute Nature," a sustainable residential project completed in June 2018 in Pingtung City, Taiwan. Situated in the verdant Hengchun Peninsula, the project draws inspiration from the stone slab house and ecological characteristics of the region, integrating aboriginal arts and crafts into its design.
The project, spanning four stories and a total area of 245 square meters, features an open plan layout, natural lighting, and ventilation. Recyclable materials are incorporated to reduce waste and save energy, while a variety of handicrafts are utilized to reactivate the space and represent a unique lifestyle. The design promotes the integration of natural ecology with arts and humanities, fostering a healthy lifestyle environment.
Challenges during the construction process included the casting of cement walls, which had to maintain the original appearance of the cement mortar. The use of raw materials for decorations and recycled waste timber made furniture revitalized the old space, reflecting the local culture and surrounding context.
