Maia Mai Atelier Limited introduces The Floating Ribbon, a unique office space design, reflecting the port business and ocean culture, fostering collaboration and creativity.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Maia Mai Atelier Limited unveils their latest office space design, The Floating Ribbon, located in a waterfront warehouse building. The design accommodates five teams co-sharing the industrial space under a grand Floating Ribbon ceiling, reflecting the port business and ocean culture. Departing from traditional departmental organization, the design fosters collaboration through a collaborative open plan, unifying multiple communal lounges into one continuous organic space.
The design's unique properties lie in its ability to unify communal spaces and strategically link teams together, encouraging idea sharing and collaboration at all times. The design's realization technology involves defining public and work zones through the spray-painting of the open ceiling into two colors, enhancing the space's identity further. The office furniture, made with bold soften geometry, is well-integrated on the existing central row of columns, creating functional spaces while responding to the Floating Ribbon above.
The design, a mix of contemporary commercial aesthetic and industrial mood inherited from terminal ports, reflects the culture of the international global company. The project commenced in September 2021 and was completed in March 2022. It responds to the need for safer indoor spaces in the post-COVID era, emphasizing well-being, socialization, and life balance over efficiency and quantity. The design has been awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
