Discover the unique design and inspiration behind the Haimen Agricultural Exhibition Hall
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
gad proudly presents the Haimen Agricultural Exhibition Hall, a stunning architectural marvel that pays homage to the barns of Chinese agricultural civilization. This exhibition hall, located in Nantong, China, is a testament to the rich heritage of Chinese rice culture and agricultural traditions. The design concept revolves around the idea of "square barn and round granary," symbolizing prosperity, honor, and the fusion of traditional context with modern lifestyle.
The 4000 square meter exhibition hall features a unique circular silo at its core, serving as a seed museum and providing a space for display and communication. The innovative design maximizes the footprint of the barn, incorporating natural lighting and ventilation to create a captivating experience for visitors. The building's exterior is crafted from UHPC material, creating a visual contrast with the glass curtain wall and blurring the boundary between the building and its surroundings.
Breaking away from conventional structural concepts, the exhibition hall's four floors are designed as concrete square boxes encircling an atrium, with the roof forming a large area of windows on the top floor. This architectural masterpiece seamlessly integrates traditional regional context with a modern aesthetic, offering a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary design.
gad's design team, including Wei Zhang, Fengqi Tang, Jie Xu, Zehui Ni, Yangyu Liu, Yuan Liu, Zhengjie Jiang, Jianzhou Chu, Shilong Liu, Fan Yang, Cheng Liu, Weihao Mu, Yunlong Jiang, Chen Chi, and Yantao Zhao, meticulously researched and realized the Haimen Agricultural Exhibition Hall, capturing the essence of Chinese agricultural civilization while overcoming creative and technical challenges.
The project, which commenced in October 2020 and concluded in April 2021, stands as a testament to the team's dedication to preserving cultural heritage and creating a space that embodies the spirit of the past while embracing the aspirations of the future.
