FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Urban Public Space Gaojia Garden

DDO design presents Gaojia Garden, a tranquil urban public space nestled by the canal under Gongchen Bridge in Hangzhou. The project, completed in January 2021, harmoniously combines historical elements with modern design techniques to create a cultural oasis.

The 1200 square meter Gaojia Garden reflects the art of life by the canal, offering a serene environment with winding paths and lush greenery. The design aims to cater to both refined and popular tastes, focusing on music, chess, calligraphy, painting, poetry, incense, and tea.

The corridor connecting the entrance tells the stories behind Gaojia Garden, using cultural relics and old objects to unmask the history and culture of the canal, Confucian business culture, and legends of Confucian businessmen.

The Nanhua Building within Gaojia Garden respects history and preserves original design elements while integrating modern design techniques. The traditional tea house within the building is a testament to the artistry of the Republic of China era, offering a space for scholars to gather, share thoughts, and appreciate traditional culture.

The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in cultural heritage and culture industry design.
