Office of Public Construction, Taoyuan Unveils the North Taoyuan Hakka Hall, a Cultural Center in Taoyuan City, Taiwan

The North Taoyuan Hakka Hall, designed by the Office of Public Construction, Taoyuan, is a cultural center aimed at enhancing the connection between the local Hakka history, humanities, and activities. It provides a cultural experience for foreign tourists and living venues for local residents, as well as a practice and performance venue for Hakka associations. The project was completed in May 2021 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
The reinforced concrete two-story building covers an area of approximately 7627.28 square meters and is designed to cater to the nearly 260,000 Hakka population in northern Taoyuan. The space is planned for flexible use, combining exhibition, teaching, office, performance, and exhibition functions to create a regional living settlement venue.
The building features a Hakka exclusive concert hall with a focus on environmental sustainability and resource reuse. The design incorporates new materials and construction methods to reduce sound penetration and enhance water conservation and environmental resource reuse.
The North Taoyuan Hakka Hall was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness. The project is a testament to the Office of Public Construction, Taoyuan's commitment to incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to contribute to quality of life improvements.
