"Rounded Shadow" - A Fusion of East-meets-West in a New Single-family House

USM INNOVATION INTEGRATED DESIGN presents "Rounded Shadow," a new single-family house project that seamlessly integrates Eastern and Western design elements. Situated on a hill, the project draws inspiration from the surrounding greenery and the client's experience of living abroad, resulting in a unique fusion of diverse concepts and aesthetics.

The design team aimed to bring the outdoors inside by incorporating techniques to connect the residence with its natural surroundings. The project showcases the possibilities of home aesthetics in the interaction between East and West, offering a harmonious blend of different cultural influences.

The house spans four floors, with public areas on the first and fourth floors and private areas on the second and third floors. The design emphasizes open plans, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and a seamless connection between the interior and exterior, creating a serene and spacious living environment.

The project features a combination of diverse materials, including eco-friendly latex paint, engineered hardwood flooring, tatami mats, stainless steel, iron parts, tawny glass, titanium-plated metal, wood veneer, steel-brushed wood veneer, system panels, marble, tiles, and fabrics. The public areas seamlessly blend with the greenery outside, while the private areas are tailored to meet the users' needs and characteristics.

Wood grilles and Zen-inspired elements are used to express harmony with nature, interior, and mind, creating a tranquil and visually stunning atmosphere. The design also incorporates wooden cabinets for ample storage and circular partitions with oriental cultural imagery, adding rich layers to the space.

The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
