BIAS Architects & Associates introduces Daxi Daxi, a festival that seamlessly blends traditional rural culture with urban pop culture, revitalizing Taiwanese religious ceremonies and promoting cultural exchange.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BIAS Architects & Associates proudly presents Daxi Daxi, an innovative urban festival aimed at rejuvenating the traditional Taiwanese religious event, Lord Guan's birthday celebration, in the rural outskirts of Taipei. Since 2018, BIAS has curated this festival to preserve and promote the event, attracting over 100,000 visitors in the last installment. The festival serves as a bridge between ancient traditions and contemporary urban culture, fostering a sense of community identity and cultural preservation.
The festival's unique "Lord Guan Online" concept, implemented in 2020, creatively combines offline and online approaches to spread the event's blessings far and wide through new media. Additionally, an exhibition delving into the "backstage" of the religious event and a show blending modern and traditional arts were featured, further intertwining traditional and urban cultures.
By curating a diverse group of young artists and designers to collaborate with tradition bearers, BIAS Architects & Associates has successfully mediated the fusion of ancient traditions with modern aesthetics, creating a vibrant and inclusive cultural celebration.
