Parti Architecture Architecture Office Unveils NUS, a Low-Energy Footprint Residence in Chania, Crete
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Parti Architecture Architecture Office has unveiled their latest project, NUS, a sustainable residential house design located in Chania, Crete. The design integrates buildings into nature, emphasizing sustainability and the ecological footprint of the built environment. With a focus on low energy footprint building designs and maximizing views towards the pure Cretan nature, NUS stands as a harmonious blend of architecture and landscape.
The main U-shaped residence, along with the underground guest house volume, maximizes the southeast exposure of the building, taking advantage of the different angles of the sun rays during seasonal cycles. The design features two solar spaces for natural heating and cooling, along with various eco-friendly elements such as photovoltaic panels, solar water heaters, and a vertical geothermal system to minimize the buildingâs ecological footprint.
With an interior area of 300 m2 and a plot area of 4000 m2, NUS embodies the essence of eco-design and passive house principles. The project has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2021, showcasing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
