FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Snorre Stinessen's Aurora Lodge is a unique chalet design located in the remote Lyngen Alps, Norway. The lodge, completed in February 2021, is delicately positioned on a natural plateau, sloping artfully down to the sea and rocky beachfront, with undisturbed views over the Arctic Oceanâs Norwegian Sea and across remote islands in the distance. The concrete floor and terraces are an extension of the natural terrain, with a simplistic A-frame design that provides privacy on one side and panoramic views on the other.
Located in the remote Lyngen Alps, the project is partly a private retreat and a small lodge. It is organized within a main structure comprising two units and terraces, a separate suite, and a sauna across the creek. The main building stretches out across the natural plateau, just behind a single line of trees, with high ceilings and seamless glass walls that invite the sky and landscape into the building.
The lodge is designed to ensure an undisturbed connection with the surrounding nature, combined with complete privacy, and follows the slope of the existing terrain. The main unit houses a fully independent communal living space and five bedrooms, all with private, en-suite bathrooms. The northernmost unit houses the main kitchen and dining room, designed like a winter garden observatory to provide fantastic views across the sea to the horizon.
