Gronych + Dollega Architekten Transforms a Strict Development Plan into a Unique Architectural Masterpiece in Bad Homburg, Germany
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Gronych + Dollega Architekten unveils their latest architectural marvel, Goethestrasse 1, a private house in Bad Homburg, Germany. The design aims to create a serene, powerful, and location-independent architectural form, seamlessly integrating the existing trees into the landscape. The project was completed in 2016, showcasing a unique blend of modern design and natural elements.
The architecture of Goethestrasse 1 establishes a sensitive scale within the landscape and the built environment, defining generous relationships between the interior and exterior spaces. The play of light and shadows from the trees, along with the reflections of the water surface, creates intense room atmospheres, offering a truly immersive experience for the residents.
Sustainability was a key focus during the construction, with all materials chosen for their meaningfulness. The dwelling house and carport feature concrete and steel V-supports, while the attic consists of prefabricated elemental wooden stud walls and ceilings. Heating and cooling are provided through an air heat pump, ensuring thermal comfort with capillary heating mats.
Gronych + Dollega Architekten's experimental approach led to the creation of a distinct architectural form that harmonizes with the natural surroundings, overcoming the challenges posed by strict planning laws. The design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2019, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence.
