WoWA Architecture, under the leadership of Shihi Chou, has revealed the Haikou Bay Hotel, a magnificent five-star hotel concept that draws inspiration from the sea and is set to grace the shores of Hainan, China in 2-3 years. The hotel's design is centered around the "Sail" concept, featuring an S-shaped massing that harmonizes the urban and natural landscapes. The building, standing at 48m tall with a gross floor area of 118,549.0 sqm, boasts unique features such as a sloping green roof and an oval-shaped ballroom with a spiral ramp, inviting visitors to engage in public activities.
The design team utilized parametric design tools to analyze ocean views, control facade patterns, and optimize room modules, ensuring a perfect blend of scientific analysis and aesthetic preferences. The hotel's long building massing is strategically cut by urban view corridors, providing visual porosity and a dynamic, engaging experience for guests. The facade design mimics ocean waves on the sea front, while emphasizing horizontal motions on the urban side, creating a captivating visual contrast.
Challenges such as zoning codes and building height limitations were skillfully overcome, resulting in a design that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings. The Haikou Bay Hotel stands as an iconic landmark, offering urban view porosities that embrace both the city and the ocean, while setting new standards in architectural excellence.
