Colega Architects transforms a tired tract home into a modern, warm, and uncluttered single-family home
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Colega Architects has successfully reimagined the Crestridge Residence, breathing new life into a dated tract home and creating a modern, warm, and uncluttered single-family home in sunny California. The project, which commenced in May 2017 and was completed in August 2019, has garnered significant acclaim, including the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020.
The transformation involved a full gut remodel of the existing house, achieving the clients' vision of a modern home within the original footprint. Notably, the design team overcame the challenge of working within the confines of the existing structure, reorganizing the interior to seamlessly connect spaces and create a series of functional yet private wings.
The Crestridge Residence boasts unique features such as a vertical louver system for privacy along the front elevation, a vaulted great room with expansive windows offering breathtaking views of the L.A. basin, and a warm yet clean interior palette. The design team's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the use of natural iron wood, black oxide hardware, and warm wood siding, creating a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and family warmth.
With a focus on efficiency and salvaging existing elements for cost savings, the project exemplifies the potential of a well-thought-out remodel. The result is a home flooded with natural light, composed volumetric interiors, and seamless connections between the interior and exterior spaces, showcasing the transformative power of thoughtful design.
