Unto Communication Tool: Redefining Corporate Identity

Unto, a design studio based in Danshui District, Taiwan, has unveiled a groundbreaking communication tool that redefines corporate identity. The project, which began in July 2019 and concluded in September 2019, explores new ways of experiencing traditional communicative tools such as name cards, flyers, and wrapping paper. The team's goal is to amplify the function of these tools and introduce new user experiences.

The Unto Communication Tool is designed to enhance connections through innovative features. For instance, the name card is split into two parts, encouraging users to keep one and share the other, thereby increasing the potential connections that one name card can facilitate. The flyer, printed on newsprint, and the customizable wrapping paper further contribute to this experiential branding approach.

Utilizing UV print technology for translucent white on black ink and die-cut perforated lines, Unto has created a unique user experience. The design aims to not only convey brand identity through graphics but also to serve as a psychological medium that prompts action. Inspired by the theory of Six Degrees of Separation, the project seeks to expand connections and networking opportunities in a world where everyone is connected by six or fewer acquaintances.

Unto, a designer duo of Ching Yi Chang and Ming Hsi Chou, has been recognized for their exceptional work. The Unto Communication Tool was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2020, acknowledging its practical and innovative design that meets professional and industrial requirements. The studio's coherent body of work is characterized by a close focus on nature and the significance of objects as cultural conduits, aiming to bring new dialogues and perspectives to the rapidly changing world.
