Bill Fong of Dimension Interior Design presents "Runway," a unique apartment design, completed in June 2019 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, showcasing the owner's steel industry background through cool colors and angular lines, symbolizing a bright and soaring future.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Dimension Interior Design introduces "Runway," an apartment design concept that reflects the owner's background in the steel industry. The space, spanning 116 square meters, features a master bedroom with a dressing room, a guest room, two bathrooms, a front room, a living room, and a kitchen with a work balcony.
The design's unique properties include an elevated walkway shaped into a runway, defining the space with height difference design and angular ceilings to create an expansive public area. The use of cement gray with warm wood grain and natural light through wooden louvers enhances the space's aesthetic.
Utilizing eco-friendly technology, the project incorporates Cement Texture (Mirco Topping), an environmentally friendly coating derived from Taiwan's reservoir mud. This material offers environmental permeability, waterproofing, and prevention of wall damage, suitable for Taiwan's humid climate.
The design's functionality is highlighted by the use of mechanism-based bus doors for the bathrooms and dressing room, optimizing space and maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic. The integration of natural light and temperature control enhances the overall living experience.
Bill Fong overcame various challenges in this project, including budget constraints and the need to incorporate plumbing and structural elements into the design. The use of dynamic design reduced the number of partitions, while custom-designed cladding structures concealed protrusions, pipes, and lines, creating a visually clean space.
The "Runway" design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022, recognizing its outstanding creativity and contribution to quality of life improvements.
