Balarinji's art installation at Burwood Brickworks, Victoria, Australia, reflects the Wurundjeri culture through a unique design concept
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Balarinji, in collaboration with local artist Mandy Nicholson, has created a stunning art installation at Burwood Brickworks, Victoria, Australia. The design concept is deeply embedded in the Wurundjeri culture, reflecting the six elements of Wurundjeri culture and incorporating references to local geographical landmarks.
The art installation is a testament to Balarinji's commitment to indigenous design and public art. The project, completed in November 2019, includes a ceiling mural and outer facade murals, showcasing the unique style and motifs of Wurundjeri art.
Balarinji's design concept met the criteria of the Living Building Challenge, contributing to the local community's sense of place and celebrating local culture, spirit, and history. The project has successfully embedded Aboriginal culture and given a voice to a segment of society rarely heard from in a positive and inclusive way.
