United Units Architects (UUA) unveils Dalian 37 Xiang, a transformative architectural project, completed in September 2022 in Dalian, China, blending the city's spirit with innovative design.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
United Units Architects (UUA) introduces Dalian 37 Xiang, a cultural and creative park born from the exploration of Dalian's city spirit, embracing the geographical resources of mountains, hills, peninsulas, and oceans. The design language draws inspiration from waves and sails, establishing a spiritual connection between the building and people, creating a new visual imagination.
Transformed from an abandoned factory, Dalian 37 Xiang is strategically located halfway up the mountainside, overlooking the harbor in the north of the city. The design echoes the spirit of the city, establishing a contrast between the old and the new through delicate and light interventions. The objective was to renew this old factory into a regional landmark, accommodating multiple business types, and creating an open and dynamic city node.
The renovation strategy involved establishing a new facade grid, forming a multiple relationship with the building's structural grid. The park spans 4,000 m2 and boasts a gross floor area of 5,300 m2, offering a roof garden and various mixed-use spaces.
