Huile Yi's Promotion Chair: A Unique End Grain Inspired Dining Chair

Huile Yi presents the Promotion chair, a dining chair inspired by the end grain of wood, offering a unique touch and texture. The chair is made of small end grain squares assembled with a customized mortise and tenon structure, creating an aesthetic feeling of a chessboard, standing out from conventional wood furniture. With its unique material structure, the chair features a light and shade effect, providing users with an artistic dining space. The exclusive mortise and tenon structure ensures the chair's stability.

The Promotion chair is realized using CNC engraving technique and North American Black Walnut from Midwest Walnut and Hawkeye farms. The coating consists of OSMO wood wax oil with multiple coatings. The chair's dimensions are 415mm*490mm*765mm, making it perfect for restaurants, homes, and lounges, also serving as a piece of art. The project was launched in Beijing in June 2019, completed in Henan in June 2022, and exhibited in Beijing's Caochangdi Art District in November 2022.

The design team members, Liu Zulong and Nie Xiaozi, contributed to the realization of this unique chair. The Promotion chair was awarded Bronze in the A' Furniture Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
