Lighting Design Transforms Traditional Library into a Cozy Oasis

Licht.Associates Limited has unveiled the innovative Glass Library, a unique split-level glass structure in Guangzhou, designed to serve as a sales office and later as a library. The design aims to create a cozy and serene environment, drawing inspiration from the concept of "Light" to establish a deep connection with the external world while providing a tranquil space for exploration and revitalization.

The brilliance of the Glass Library lies in its ambience lighting, carefully selected to ensure ample lighting for reading while maintaining a sense of coziness that attracts visitors. The design incorporates custom-made lighting fixtures and furnishings to create a subtle and tranquil atmosphere, effectively eliminating the impact of external weather conditions on interior lighting.

Utilizing burial uplights and custom-made recessed accent lighting, the Glass Library expresses the solemnity of the space and enhances the texture of the artifacts. The lighting plan, including location, wattage, angle beam, and color temperature, was meticulously calculated to create a flowing halo effect and a braided hierarchy ambient, seamlessly integrating with the vibrant colored furniture.

Licht.Associates Limited's Glass Library was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence in lighting design. The project showcases a perfect balance between functionality, sustainability, and efficiency, transforming traditional library spaces into cozy, inviting oases.
