Maform Unveils the Petervary Smart Piano Bench

Maform, a design team based in Budapest, Hungary, has unveiled the Petervary Smart Piano Bench, a revolutionary multifunctional piano bench that aims to transform the way people play and learn to play the piano. The bench combines high-tech features with a classical style, drawing inspiration from the form language of grand pianos to create a subtle yet functional design.

The Petervary Smart Piano Bench boasts unique properties that set it apart from traditional piano benches. Its upper part can slide sideways, enabling pianists to reach the keys on the far ends of the piano while maintaining optimal body posture. Additionally, the bench features a motorized height setup, allowing users to easily adjust the height either manually or through smart functions such as an NFC tag or a mobile app.

The design and realization of the Petervary Smart Piano Bench involved the use of rapid prototyping technologies for the casing, with careful polishing and professional painting to achieve a high-quality appearance. The bench is designed to be fully serviceable while keeping the bolts hidden, ensuring both functionality and aesthetics.

Measuring 870mm in width, 405mm in depth, and 570mm in height, the Petervary Smart Piano Bench occupies 0.35m² of floor area and weighs approximately 32kg. The project, which began in September 2022, was completed in February 2023, with the development taking place in Budapest and Tatabanya, Hungary.

The Petervary Smart Piano Bench has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2023, acknowledging its well-designed, practical, and innovative features that meet professional and industrial requirements. Maform's innovative approach to integrating high-tech functionality into a classical design has set a new standard for piano benches, catering to the needs of professional musicians, teachers, and students alike.
