Ultra Mariner: Award-Winning Modular Lighting and Planter System by Studio Beam Blends Nature and Technology for Modern Interiors

Studio Beam, a Tel Aviv-based design studio renowned for its contemporary lighting solutions, has been honored with the Bronze A' Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Award for its Ultra Mariner system. Developed between 2021 and January 2023, Ultra Mariner responds to the increasing need for biophilic design in urban environments by merging customizable lighting with integrated planters. The system aims to reconnect people with nature, promoting well-being and reducing stress in commercial, public, and residential spaces.

Inspired by the studio's transition from a rural farm to an urban setting, Ultra Mariner was conceived to address the human desire for natural elements indoors. The design features laser-cut metal structures, durable aluminum planters, and energy-efficient LED lighting modules, all arranged in a flexible, modular format. With lighting modules ranging from 400 to 2000 mm and planters designed for a variety of indoor plants, the system offers endless configurations to suit diverse spatial requirements. Its user-friendly assembly, including easy-to-use plugs and optional motorized components for high ceilings, ensures adaptability and low maintenance.

Studio Beam's research-driven approach explored the impact of greenery and natural light on well-being, resulting in a product that enhances air quality and aesthetics while supporting sustainable practices. The Ultra Mariner family includes pendant and wall fixtures, linear planters, and modular suspended systems, all designed to seamlessly integrate into different environments. The award recognizes Ultra Mariner's technical ingenuity, creative design, and its contribution to improving quality of life through the harmonious fusion of nature and technology.
