The Oriental Temple: A Fusion of Classical Heritage and Modern Spiritual Design Recognized Internationally

PCC Design has achieved international recognition with its Oriental Temple project, recently awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025. Located atop a scenic hill in Selangor, Malaysia, the temple is celebrated for its harmonious blend of classical Tang Dynasty architecture and modern design principles. The project, which began in October 2020 and concluded in July 2024, stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of cultural heritage in contemporary spaces.

The Oriental Temple's exterior features grand carved wooden panels and mirror-etched floral motifs, symbolizing wisdom and unity with nature. At the heart of the temple, a towering dome shelters a Buddha statue, representing the connection between earth and heaven. The design thoughtfully incorporates climate-responsive features such as reinforced concrete, masonry walls, and a pitched clay-tiled roof, ensuring durability and comfort in Malaysia's hot, humid climate. Natural ventilation and the temple's hilltop position maximize the cooling effects of the sea breeze, enhancing the visitor experience.

Inside, guests are invited to explore peaceful prayer halls, meditation gardens, and curated cultural artifacts. The temple serves as a vibrant center for spiritual contemplation, cultural enrichment, and community engagement, offering guided tours, educational programs, and events. Overcoming the challenge of translating traditional timber construction into modern materials, PCC Design has preserved the authentic proportions and aesthetic integrity of oriental architecture while meeting contemporary standards. The result is a timeless space that fosters unity, reflection, and a deep appreciation for both tradition and innovation.
